I use a K & K for the slap and a Fishman for the low end.

Me slappin' at the Rodeo Bar in NYC with Moot Davis Band.

MY UPRIGHT BASS
PRE-AMPSSCOTT AT RODEO BAR

My amplifier was given to me by bassist friend Ken Bussiere... a Peavey Combo 300.

I use a Music Man cabinet with an Eminence 15" 4 Watt. I hope to update in the future.

My bass is a plywood box from Sam Ash. I've switched from ancient RotoSound Nylon strings that were gathering dust for years at Kolstein Music in Baldwin, Long Island, NY to Garbo Gut. Ebony string height adjusters were purchased at Kolstein and installed by Rockabilly guitarist and ace toolmaster Rick Kuebler. I shaved the fingerboard myself for the slap bass style and keep my strings at an enormous height to reduce string buzz. I hope to replace the fingerboard with ebony when the present one is destroyed by vigorous slapping.
